14 perish in two horror crashes

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed a fatal road accident which claimed 5 lives when a Homan Sino truck with two passengers was involved in a head on collision with a Toyota Aqua with 4 passengers along Harare-Bulawayo Rd.

“The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident in which five people were killed when a Homan Sino truck with two passengers on board was involved in a head on collision with a Toyota Aqua vehicle with four passengers on board at the 191 kilometre peg,” ZRP posted on X.

Meanwhile, 9 people perished while over 39 were injured in a bus collision near Tshamunanga, 12 km outside Beitbridge early in the morning Saturday.

“…in a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on 16/03/24 at around 0100 hours at the 267 kilometre peg along Masvingo-Beitbridge Road, nine people were killed whilst 39 others were injured when a Blue Circle bus and City bus were involved in a head on collision,” police said.

“The bodies of the victims were taken to Beitbridge District General Hospital mortuary for post mortem whilst the injured are admitted at the same hospital. More details to be released in due course.”
