President Emmerson Mnangagwa, in a recent address during the 380th Session of the Politburo, firmly condemned senior party members for misusing social media to sow discord within the ruling party. He emphasized the critical need for unity and order among members, calling out the counter-revolutionary tendencies that have emerged.
“It is disheartening to note the unbecoming levels of mud-slinging and other counter-revolutionary tendencies, including the broadcasting of party issues on social media platforms,” the President stated. He warned that such actions have caused confusion and disrepute for the party, declaring them unacceptable and intolerable.
President Mnangagwa urged every member to adhere to the party constitution, emphasizing wide consultation and formal ratification of issues that affect the party. “Prudence must be exercised in the execution of our duties and rights as members,” he said, advocating for a culture of common purpose and harmony as ZANU PF advances its mission.
To address the challenges posed by social media, a new social media policy is being developed to guide party members in their online conduct. The President encouraged the party leadership to focus on the upcoming 2025 elections with optimism, stressing the importance of maintaining a positive image and expanding the party’s membership base.
Despite the challenges posed by illegal sanctions, President Mnangagwa highlighted the numerous successes achieved over the past year in modernizing and industrializing the economy. He reiterated the national development philosophy, emphasizing that the country is experiencing growth across various sectors, leading to an improved quality of life for citizens.
In recent weeks, the President has officiated several significant development projects, including the commissioning of the Shurugwi-Mhandamabwe Road and the launch of a US$1 billion Titan New Energy Plant. He underscored the vital role of the iron and steel sector in positioning Zimbabwe as an infrastructure powerhouse.
As he commended party members for their hard work and dedication, President Mnangagwa urged them to continue embodying the spirit of servant leadership. He also recognized the efforts of the Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology in training youth leaders, promoting ideals of patriotism and Pan-Africanism crucial for national development.
The President concluded by encouraging all party members to remain steadfast in their commitment to the party and the nation as they move into the new year, emphasizing that collective efforts are essential for the success of ZANU PF and the development of Zimbabwe.
