President Mnangagwa Tours Huawei and BYD in Shenzhen

This morning, President Emmerson Mnangagwa conducted a tour of two prominent Chinese companies: BYD, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, and Huawei, a global telecommunications giant. The visit took place in Shenzhen, known as China’s technology hub.

Following the tours, President Mnangagwa emphasized the importance of leveraging the strong ties between Zimbabwe and China, which were forged during Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle. He expressed optimism about how these relations can accelerate Zimbabwe’s industrialization and modernization efforts.

“Every time I visit the People’s Republic of China, especially Huawei, I witness significant advancements in technology. It’s clear that innovation progresses rapidly year after year,” he stated. “I hope our people in Zimbabwe will embrace the technology we are exposed to here in China. These are our closest friends.”

Accompanied by various ministers and top government officials, the President’s itinerary also includes visits to Changsha in Hunan Province and Nanjing in Jiangsu Province. After these business engagements, he will proceed to Beijing for a State visit.

Additionally, President Mnangagwa is scheduled to participate in the triennial Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), taking place from September 4 to 6, where he will join other heads of state and government leaders to discuss mutual cooperation and development initiatives.
