Woman Murders ex-Husband in Contraception Argument

A 23-year-old woman, Charity Chidziwa, has made her first appearance before the Mbare Magistrates Court, facing charges of murdering her ex-husband, Prosper Masimba Chibisa sometime in January 2024. The court proceedings revealed that the incident occurred following a heated argument over a contraception implant.

According to the prosecution, Chidziwa and Chibisa had separated, with Chidziwa moving back to her parents’ home. However, they would occasionally spend nights together.

“It is the State’s case that the accused person was married to Prosper Masimba Chibisa, the deceased, since 2021. Sometime in January 2024, they had a misunderstanding which prompted the accused person to move back to her parents’ home which is a stone’s throw away from where they stayed with her husband. The two used to spend nights together after the separation.”said the state.

On the fateful day, Chidziwa and Chibisa were at Chibisa’s residence watching a movie on his mobile phone. The argument erupted when Chibisa questioned Chidziwa about her choice of a contraception implant that would last for ten years instead of a five-year option. The disagreement escalated into a physical altercation, during which Chidziwa allegedly stabbed Chibisa in the left armpit.

Chibisa suffered profuse bleeding and was immediately rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, medical professionals pronounced him dead upon his arrival.

The State presented these details during the court hearing, outlining the sequence of events leading to the tragic outcome. Chidziwa was formally charged with murder and appeared before the magistrate. The case was subsequently adjourned to April 17, 2024.
